Web Dissect does not collect any personal information or usage statistics. Specifically:

No Analytics: We do not track how many times you use the extension or what pages you audit.
No External Transmission: Audit reports and scan data are generated strictly on your local machine and are never transmitted to any external server or third party.
No Personal Identifiers: We do not gather names, email addresses, IP addresses, or browser footprints.

How the Extension Operates

To perform its core function as an accessibility checker, Web Dissect interacts with your active browser tab in the following manner:

Active Tab Scanning: When you initiate a scan, the extension injects a local instance of the open-source axe-core engine into the active page to evaluate its DOM against standard WCAG accessibility rules.
Session Storage: Audit results are held temporarily in your browser's local session storage per tab so you can review them while the panel is open. This data disappears when the tab or session is closed.

Permissions Explained

The extension requests specific permissions solely to provide its primary function:

activeTab / Host Permissions: Used strictly to run accessibility checks on the page you choose to audit.
scripting: Used to inject the local axe-core testing script into the webpage during a scan.
sidePanel: Used to display audit results alongside your active tab for easier review.
storage: Used to preserve scan results locally in temporary browser session storage.

Third-Party Services

Web Dissect does not use third-party tracking, analytics, advertising networks, or remote servers.
